Breathwork

The breathwork process I facilitate is a hands-on conscious connected breath style, called Transformational Breath. It is focus on restoring a natural diaphragmatic breathing pattern.

Transformational Breath works on several levels:

  • Physically it can give more energy, clear toxins out of the system, and eliminate physical symptoms caused by conditions of the mental or emotional body.

  • Emotionally, Transformational Breath can resolve old, repressed feelings. Through the breath, there can be a permanent change at the level of cellular memory.

  • Mentally, Transformational Breath clears old, repressed feelings, thought forms, and memories, creating deeper levels of peace, creativity, and clarity.

  • Spiritually, Transformational Breath creates an open state by clearing the lower subconscious, allowing access to the higher subconscious.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What’s the difference between Transformational Breath, Rebirthing, and Holotropic Breathing?

I’ll start this explanation by saying that all breathwork is beneficial. I explored all of the above breathwork practices in my own process before I decided to train in Transformational Breath as I found it the most powerful in connecting with my emotions, body, and creating lasting change with my breathing pattern.

Transformational Breath is the newest and in my opinion offers the most support from the facilitator to the breather.

The purpose and intention of Rebirthing is to clear the birth trauma by releasing primal pain. Transformational Breath and Rebirthing are similar in that both utilize a conscious connected breath and are by nature intuitive i.e. a non-controlled breathing pattern. However, Rebirthing focuses on upper chest breathing, while Transformational Breath focuses on developing a full diaphragmatic, connected breath.

The diaphragmatic breath begins in the abdominal area, which is the seat of the subconscious, goes up through the mid-chest, our joy and power center, then rises to the heart, our love center, and to the upper chest or will-center. Opening the breath allows us to fully access all areas of repression (i.e. areas we don’t want to bring our breath or attention too) and integrate them.

Transformational Breath also uses other tools such as toning and physical touch.

The differences between the Transformational Breath and Holotropic Breath are even more pronounced. Holotropic breathwork is non-specific in its breathing patterns and deals little with specific resolution of emotional trauma that arises as a result of opening the doors to the subconscious.
